Pre-Season One Act - Kaylee Dresch
The David City High School One Act team went to 4 pre-season competitions and had 3 other performances. Their first performance was on November 1st, 2024, which was the public performance of the season. The first competition was on November 2nd, in Norfolk, NE, at the Johnny Carson Theatre, where the state final competition is held at the end of the season. The team placed 1st in the competition. There were acting awards handed to the entire cast, including Neil Olson, Hannah Scribner, Nataile Robak, Israel Martinez, Benny Aroni, Brittin Valentine, Kaylee Dresch, Garrett Small, Lorelai Aldrich, Abby Lindsley, Ellie Bales, Shelbea Reed, Hayden Valentine, Paul Tebbe, Trevin Jahde, Neil Zrust, and Brooklyn Martinez.
At the next competition, on November 9th, the team placed 2nd as a team. As well, the hair and make-up crew was given the best hair and makeup award, and all of the cast were given an acting award. The next competition was held in Holdredge. No team awards were given at this competition but Neil Olson was named best lead actor, and Kaylee Dresch was named best secondary actress. The next performance was in Brainard at East Butler High School, on November 21st, at the BCAC, which is a triangular between David City, Aquinas, and East Butler. After that, the team stayed at home and hosted a triangular between York, David City, and Hardington-New Castle High School. This triangular has more of a workshop set-up, where each team performs and then goes through a workshop with coaches from the other teams. This team placed first at the SNC competition and B-3 district competition, sending them to the State One Act competition, on Friday, December 13. The team performs at 8:30 A.M. at the Johnny Carson Theatre in Norfolk where their season started. This is an amazing team and they do have a bright and shining future! Go, Scouts!!
