David City recently made an impressive showing at the 2024 District STAR Event Competition held in Madison, NE, on January 24th. The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) organizes competitions throughout the year, but STAR is the most participated one in our area. STAR Events allow students to compete individually or as a team, recognizing their proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. These events allow students to engage actively with family, career, and community issues. Participants conduct research, develop projects, and advocate for positive change.
Participants can progress from the district level to state and national competitions. The David City Chapter is delighted to announce that seven students will represent our school at the Nebraska State Leadership Conference from April 7-9, 2024, in Lincoln, NE. This is a testament to their hard work and dedication. We would like to recognize the following State Qualifiers from our chapter:
Hannah Scribner, who achieved Top Gold in the Chapter in Review Portfolio category;
Chloe Zegers and Kaitlyn Palik, who achieved Top Gold in the Chapter in Review Display category;
Ellie Bales, who achieved Top Silver in Leadership;
Abby Lindsley, who achieved Silver in Interior Design;
Joe Scribner, who achieved Gold in Interior Design and
Jacob Lange, who achieved Top Silver in National Programs in Action.
Neil Olson received a Gold medal and Honorable Mention in Repurpose and Redesign. We would also like to thank Laura Daro from the Butler County Health Department and Ronda Gestring, a retired David City business teacher/AD, for providing positive critiques to our district competitors as judges. Your support is truly appreciated.
If our members place in the top 2 of their category, They will compete nationally in Seatle Washington, June 29th- July 3rd, 2024.
